CMP introduces e-traffic fine payment system through Community Bank

C T Online Desk: The inauguration of traffic fine collection through Community Bank Bangladesh PLC was held by the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Thursday.

During this time, an agreement was signed between Community Bank Bangladesh PLC and the Chittagong Metropolitan Police at the CMP Headquarters.

The agreement was signed by Hasib Aziz, commissioner, Chittagong Metropolitan Police and Md Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, managing director (Current Charge), Community Bank.

Following the signing ceremony, the Chittagong Metropolitan Police commissioner, along with the guests, inaugurated the “e-traffic Prosecution and Fine Collection.

In collaboration with IT Consultants PLC. (ITCL) and Community Bank, a 2-day training workshop was conducted to highlight the procedures of e-traffic Prosecution and Fine Collection among the Police Officers who will roll out this on the ground.

Thursday was the closing day of the workshop, and it is now possible to pay traffic fines conveniently using QR codes through any bank card, mobile financial services, or various banking apps.

Under the current situation, when a case is filed against any vehicle within Chittagong City and its surrounding areas, it becomes difficult for the payee due to a lack of collection points.

To simplify this process, Community Bank has launched an advanced POS (Point of Sale) system with upgraded software through which one can easily pay the fine instantly using Visa cards, debit cards, and credit cards of various Banks.

In addition, one can pay traffic prosecution fines using the Smart Bangla QR Code prescribed by Bangladesh Bank; a total of 78 payment gateways, including 21 online banking apps, including mobile financial services like bKash, Nagad, Rocket, mCash, and a total of 56 National Payment Swift of Bangladesh.

All collected fines will be deposited into the government treasury through the Community Bank’s payment channel. This new system will eliminate the need to retain documents in most cases.

The event was attended by Md Humayun Kabir, additional police commissioner (Admin, Finance and Crime), CMP; Md Asfiquzzaman aktar; additional police commissioner (Traffic), CMP and senior officials from the Traffic Department along with Shamsul Haque Sufyani, chief operating officer (COO), Community Bank Bangladesh PLC, Sarfuddin Md Redwan Patwary, head of Operations; Mohammad Riaz Uddin, SVP and Agrabad Branch Manager; Zohir Ahmed, VP and head of Cards; Abdullah-Al-Mamun, SAVP and Andarkilla Branch Manager and and other senior officials of the bank were present at the inauguration ceremony.
