Five killed as bus falls into roadside ditch in Faridpur

C T Online Desk: Five people have been killed and at least 35 injured after a bus lost control and overturned into a ditch in Faridpur Sadar Upazila. The identities of the deceased and injured have not yet been confirmed.

The accident occurred around 11:15 am on Tuesday in front of Bakhunda Sharif Jute Mill on the Faridpur-Barisal highway.

Md. Nazrul Islam, Senior Station Officer of Faridpur Fire Service, confirmed the incident.

According to local sources and the fire service, a bus named “Hidex” heading to Faridpur from Tekerhat lost control and fell into a roadside ditch. Locals and fire service personnel carried out rescue operations.

Station Officer Md. Nazrul Islam said they rushed to the scene upon receiving the news and began rescue efforts. There were about 40 passengers on board. Among them, five were killed and 35 injured. Many of the injured are in critical condition. The injured have been taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Further details will be provided later.
