C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel, Mymensingh : Mymensingh city processions turn violent in protest of Israeli massacre in Gaza. As part of a pre-announced program on Monday morning, people from all walks of life, including students, gathered at the Town Hall intersection in the city. During this time, they protested with black clothes on their heads and placards in their hands.
The Mymensingh Town Hall premises were filled with slogans protesting the killings from all sides. The program started at 10:30 am and continued until 12:30 pm. Later, after the protest rally, a procession circled the main road of the city and ended at the Town Hall.
Ali Hossain, member secretary of the Mymensingh district branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, “Israel’s indiscriminate genocide in Gaza is in no way desirable. As humans, seeing this, our hearts are no longer at home. We want the Muslim countries of the world to unite and build a strong movement against Israel.”
Student Adiatul Jannat said, “The world has become senseless. Even though thousands of women and children have been killed in Gaza, they have no role to play. We are protesting out of sympathy for Gaza and will continue to do so. Whether it happens or not. Whenever we turn on social media, we shudder to see the scenes of Gaza. That is why we protest as human beings.”
A person named Shamsur Rahman said, “The level of attacks in Gaza has been increasing for the past few days. So as a human being, I have joined the protest program with my family. If I had the strength, I would have gone to Gaza and stood up against the Israelis. However, I have boycotted all Israeli products, and I hope that everyone will protest by boycotting their products like us.”
Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Shafiqul Islam Khan said that protests against the Israeli massacre in Gaza have been ongoing in various parts of the city since morning. Security has been beefed up to ensure that the protests end peacefully.
