C T Online Desk: Thousands of Muslims across hundreds of villages in Bangladesh’s Chandpur, Faridpur, Dinajpur, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Barguna and Tangail districts are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday, ahead of the national observance, in alignment with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, reports UNB.
In Chandpur, at least 40 villages, including Sadra Darbar Sharif in Hajiganj upazila, marked the festival.
Pirzada Mufti Arif Chowdhury of Sadra Darbar Sharif said their observance follows Quranic and Hadith principles, relying on moon sightings rather than any single country’s decision.
The first Eid congregation was held at Sadra Darbar Sharif at 9am, led by Mufti Zakaria Chowdhury, followed by another at Sadra Hamidia Fazil Madrasa at 9:30am.
Dinajpur
Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were held at various locations in six upazilas of Dinajpur in accordance with Saudi Arabia.
At 8am, the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer was held at a party center in Charubabu Mor, Dinajpur city.
The prayer was led by Maulana Md Abdur Razzak, director of Maheshpur Madrasa in Birol upazila of Dinajpur.
Around 200 worshippers participated.
Pirojpur
Similarly, in Pirojpur, over 700 families from 10 villages celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr in alignment with Saudi Arabia.
Locals, who are followers of Sureshwar Pir, marked the occasion in six villages of Mathbaria upazila, three villages of Kawkhali upazila, and one village of Nazirpur upazila.
Thousands of Muslims from these villages gathered at different times in the morning for Eid congregations.
Noakhali
In Noakhali, several villages also celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr in accordance with Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
At 9am, devotees from these villages gathered simultaneously for Eid congregations.
The followers of the Qaderia Tariqa, which is based on the ideology of Pir Abu Muhammad Mohiuddin Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA), observed the occasion.
Residents of Laxminarayanpur, Harinarayanpur, Basantabagh, Fazilpur, and Ramballabpur villages, who follow this tradition, fast a day earlier each year in line with Saudi Arabia.
Barguna
Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in 16 villages of Barguna in accordance with Saudi Arabia.
The main congregation, led by Hafiz Md Ramzan Ali, was held at 8:30am in Bokultoli village of Betagi upazila.
After the prayer, worshippers embraced each other and shared Eid greetings while drinking sherbet in the mosque courtyard.
Tangail
Forty families in Shashinara village of Delduar upazila, Tangail, celebrated Eid in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries.
The Eid congregation was held at 8am on Sunday at the local mosque ground.
Along with these forty families, worshippers from various upazilas also participated in the Eid prayers.
Hafiz Ershad Hossain led the prayer, and afterward, special supplications were made for the well-being of the global Muslim community.
Faridpur
In Faridpur’s Boalmari Upazila, 10 villages in Shekhar and Rupapat unions also celebrated Eid on Sunday.
