C T Online Desk: A vessel carrying 11,500 tonnes of parboiled rice from India has arrived at Chattogram Port under an open tender agreement, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Food.
The ship, MV DDS Marina, docked at the port as part of a government initiative to import a total of 4.5 lakh tonnes of rice from India in nine packages.
So far, 2,85,769 tonnes have already reached the country under this agreement, the press release said.
Testing of rice samples has been completed, and preparations for unloading the cargo are underway. The necessary measures have been taken to facilitate the process, the ministry added.
The press release was signed by Imdad Islam, senior information officer and public relations officer of the Ministry of Food.
