Hamza arrives in Bangladesh

C T Online Desk: Hamza Dewan Choudhury, the biggest star of the country’s sports arena, landed with his family members at the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet today.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) welcomed him with floral bouquet.

Hamza’s mother Rafia Dewan Chowdhury, Wife Olivia Choudhury, their three kids and Hamza’s two brothers, physio and one official were with him.

Hamza’s father, Dewan Murshid Choudhury, arrived in Bangladesh three weeks ago to make all the necessary arrangements for welcoming his son.

Local football fans also gathered outside of the airport to welcome him.

Before boarding his flight to Bangladesh, Hamza played in the Sheffield Derby against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday evening.

Sheffield United secured a 1-0 victory, with the winning goal scored by Rhian Brewster. Hamza played full 90 minutes of the match.

Then, Hamza’s contingent will leave airport to his paternal village named Snanghat located at Bahubal in Habiganj.

On the very next day on Tuesday, he will fly to Dhaka and join the team in the team hotel.

The men in red and green, who are currently taking preparations in Taif Saudi Arabia, will arrive Dhaka on Tuesday.

However, Hamza officially will attend the press conference on Wednesday after a photo session with the team. The Bangladesh born English footballer is also expected to join the training session under Javier Cabrera on the same day.

Hamza will make his debut for Bangladesh with the crucial first-leg match of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers’ final round against India on 25 March at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

The 27-year-old footballer is currently playing for EFL Championship club Sheffield United on loan from Premier League club Leicester City. The contract will end on 21 May, then he is likely to return to Leicester.
