C T Online Desk: A total of 13,85,716 children will receive vitamin A plus capsules in Chattogram today as part of the “National Vitamin-A Plus” campaign.
Among them, 560,000 children will be given vitamin-A capsules in the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) area, while 825,716 children across 15 upazilas outside the city.
Children aged between six and 11 months will be given one blue-coloured vitamin A capsule each, while children aged between 12 and 59 months would be given red-coloured capsules from 8:00am to 4pm at all permanent and temporary vaccination centers in both the city and upazilas.
The Chattogram Civil Surgeon’s Office has taken initiatives to ensure 100 percent coverage of children in the district and city, said Chattogram Civil Surgeon Jahangir Alam.
At various vaccination centers, parents were seen bringing their children to receive the supplement.
Shuvescha Ghosh, a guardian, took her four-and-a-half-year-old child to the vaccination centre at Shatodal Club in Askar Dighir Par under CCC Ward No 21 (Jamal Khan) around 10:30am. She expressed satisfaction with the “cordial behaviour” of the vaccination staff.
Similar scenes were observed at other centres, including Jenison Red Crescent Maternity, Baghmaniram Ward Office, Anderkilla Ward Office, and Jamal Khan Ward Office, where parents were seen rushing to ensure their children received the vital supplement.
