C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel: There have been allegations that a fraudulent group in Trishal, Mymensingh, in collusion with the people of the in-laws’ house, has taken land by writing it down (through commission) by promising to register the land and reject the deposit. Therefore, a written complaint has been filed with the Trishal Police Station, blaming the office assistant, document writer, land recipient and the people of the in-laws’ house at the Trishal Sub-Registry Office and with the Sub-Registrar for cancellation of the document.
The complaint states that Sohag Mia, the simple son of Abdul Kader of Raymoni village of Mathbari union under Trishal upazila, assigned Sarwar Alam, son of Abdul Mannan Lebu Mia of the same village, and Arif Mia, son of the late Yakub Ali Fakir, to register and transfer 5 percent of the land in the land plot number 17492, which was obtained in the original document of his last property, to the same village. Sarwar Alam said that it would take some time to register and register due to some inconsistencies in the land papers. On Tuesday, February 18, his wife Baby Akhter, Shalika Shimuli Akhter and father-in-law Qayyum Mia suddenly asked Sarwar to go to Trishal to sign some papers for the registration of the land. When Sohag Mia went with them to Trishal, Sarwar Alam took him to the house of Jannatul Ferdous Didar Sarkar, the document writer of the sub-registry office in Darirampur area, and there asked him to sign a few documents for dismissal. After Sohag Mia signed, he realized that it was a document. When Sohag Mia wanted to know about it and tried to stop him, they beat him up.
Describing the incident, the victim, Sohag Mia, said, “My last asset is this place, my house and my house. Alam and his in-laws have conspired to take away my land. If I don’t have this place, I will have to spend the night under a tree. I am demanding that the document be canceled and action be taken against the document writer, as they took advantage of my trust and simplicity and made me get the document through fraud.”
When asked about this, local UP member Parvez Ahmed said, “There was a family dispute within Sohag’s family. We resolved it locally. After the deed was done, Sohag called me and informed me of the incident. I then told him that if the land was forcibly taken away, we will try to get the land from the recipient through local compromise. But since there were complaints at several places including the sub-registry office and police station, there was no environment for resolving it locally. Even then, they came and we will try to resolve it locally.”
In this regard, Sub-Inspector Sabuj Mia of Trishal Police Station said, “I have been in Dhaka for training for several days. Even if we come, we have nothing to do regarding land issues. Even then, I have ordered both sides to remain calm.”
During the deed registry, Sub-Registrar (Extra Responsibility) Kamruzzaman Kabir, who was on duty, said that if Sohag Mia can prove that his land was forcibly deeded, then his land will be returned.
Newly appointed sub-registrar Umar Farooq said, “I came to know about this after I joined here. This incident happened before I came. I don’t know whether anyone was informed about this incident later.”
Accused office assistant Atiqul Islam said, “I went to the commission at the document writer’s house on the instructions of the sub-registrar. But there was no incident of forced signatures being taken.”
Despite repeated attempts to contact the other accused document writer, Jannatul Ferdous Didar, by phone, he did not answer the phone.
