C T Online Desk: Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday ordered law enforcers to move into the “strict mode” of actions against sexual abusers and rapists, and swiftly complete investigations into relevant cases on a priority basis.
“No relief will be given to those encroaching upon women’s security,” he warned.
He gave the instructions while paying a visit to Magura’s eight-year-old rape victim at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital. The child suffered severe injuries to her genitals and neck during the rape, allegedly by her sister’s father-in-law, and is under critical observation.
The home adviser ordered hospital authorities to ensure the “highest possible treatment” for the child.
The child suffered the tragedy while visiting her brother-in-law’s residence in Magura town recently, and four from the brother-in-law’s family have been implicated in the rape case. The home ministry had instructed the four accused must not be freed from police custody.
