C T Online Desk: A much-talked-about new political organization, styled the Jatiya Nagorik Party, or the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), is set to be officially launched on Friday afternoon during a rally at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka, in the spirit of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
The formal announcement of the party, formed by the Jaitya Nagorik Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, is scheduled to take place at 3pm at the venue.
Preparations for the stage began on Thursday afternoon, with final touches still underway on Friday morning.
Ahead of the event, an extensive setup was in progress on the streets and sidewalks in front of the parliament complex.
A medical team will be present at the event, along with a continuous water supply and special security arrangements for women.
The organizers expect a gathering of over 500,000 people.
They have obtained permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and a three-tier security system will be in place.
High-profile political figures, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, have been invited to attend the official launching ceremony, according to the organizers.
Sources indicate that leadership positions for senior joint convener and senior joint member secretary remain undecided due to multiple candidates vying for the roles.
Md Nahid Islam, a prominent figure in the July uprising, recently resigned as an adviser in the interim government to take charge of the new political party.
