C T Online Desk: Farida Akhter, the fisheries and livestock adviser, has encouraged educated youth to consider participating in the fishing industry, going to rivers to fish.
Speaking on Monday at a meeting with the members of a local organization in Manpura upazila, Bhola, she emphasized that their involvement would help in the efficient use of advanced digital devices for fishing, particularly in deep sea operations.
Farida explained that the use of these devices would allow fishermen to receive accurate directions, ensuring a safer and more effective fishing process.
In her address, Farida also highlighted the need for updating the fishermen’s registration list, stating that many non-fishermen were still on the list. “Only genuine fishermen will be included in the updated list, ensuring that they alone benefit from government facilities,” she said.
Furthermore, the adviser discussed the allocation of rice to fishermen during the fishing ban period, noting that more rice would be distributed this year.
She mentioned that instead of the usual 25 kilograms, a larger portion of 40 kilograms might be allocated to each fisherman. “From now on, rice will be distributed to fishermen at the beginning of the ban period,” she added.
