Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh: A human chain has been formed to protest false propaganda and deep conspiracy against Rubaiya Yasmin, the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) of Gafargaon, Mymensingh.
The human chain was organized by the Upazila Parishad at 10:30 am on Monday (February 17) at the Upazila Parishad premises. In this, officers and employees of all departments came together to strongly protest against the conspiratorial propaganda and targeted harassment against the Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
The speakers alleged that a malicious group is systematically spreading false propaganda against the UNO to disrupt the orderly functioning of the administration. There is a deliberate attempt to defame it, which is part of a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the administration. They warned that if this conspiracy is not stopped immediately and action is not taken against the culprits, stricter measures will be announced.
The speakers said that the propaganda being spread against the UNO will not be accepted in any way. They demanded that the conspirators be identified and brought to justice quickly, otherwise the administration officials will be forced to take a united and stricter program.
There is extreme tension in the administrative circles surrounding this human chain organized by the Upazila Parishad. People from different classes and professions, including the general public, have also expressed solidarity with this program. They said that the overall development of Gafargaon may be hampered due to the conspiracy against the UNO, which is not desirable in any way.
Locals believe that the incident requires immediate intervention by the higher authorities concerned. They hope that exemplary action will be taken against the culprits to maintain internal order in the administration, so that no one else dares to commit such a conspiracy in the future.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Amir Salman Rony said in the human chain, “A vested interest group is going to take false and conspiratorial actions against Gafargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rubaiya Yasmin. We, the government officials and employees of Gafargaon Upazila, feel that if such conspiratorial actions are implemented, it will become difficult for us to work here and ensure public services. Through today’s program, we want all kinds of conspiracies to be foiled and the conspirators to be alert. If any government official or employee wants to make any false allegations and defamatory actions, we have decided to go on a strike together.”
He also said that different government officials and employees are being tagged with different political tags, which is not right at all. Government officials and employees do not belong to any specific party or political party. When government officials and employees form the government, the party that implements the government’s activities will implement it at the field level.
Now, if our activities do not serve anyone’s personal interests, if it is an illegal demand, and if government officials and employees are harassed for not fulfilling that demand, our smooth provision of services will be disrupted. He also called on those who want to disrupt the government’s activities by conducting such conspiratorial activities to step back from that path.
When asked about this, Gafargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rubaiya Yasmin (on mobile phone) said in her statement, “A cunning group presented some demands to me. If those demands are illegal, we have nothing to do there. There is no opportunity for government officials to go beyond the law. Two days ago, I received news that they are planning to harass me unexpectedly and are spreading misinformation through various media because I did not fulfill those illegal demands.”
Officials and employees of various government departments in the upazila, as well as people from different classes and professions, were present at the human chain.
