C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel, Mymensingh Bureau: The Trishal Upazila administration has demolished illegal structures, raw markets and businesses built on the land of the Roads and Highways Department on both sides of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Trishal, Mymensingh.
The operation was conducted on both sides of the highway in Trishal, Mymensingh, and in front of Trishal Police Station, one of the busiest commercial areas in the city.
The operation was conducted on Thursday afternoon. During this time, more than a hundred shops and raw markets, fruit shops in front of the government Nazrul College, and various organizations and commercial shops, hotels and establishments illegally occupied in front of the memorial were demolished.
The eviction drive was led by Trishal Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari and conducted by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Mahbubur Rahman.
Present at the event were Md. Mofakhkharul Islam, Sub-Divisional Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department, Mymensingh, Mansur Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station, Nausheen Ahmed, Secretary of Trishal Municipality, and Anam Faruk, President of the Trishal Motor Owners Association.
Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari, who led the eviction drive, said, “There used to be traffic jams here due to illegal establishments. That’s why they were evicted today. Although they were evicted before, they had set up establishments again, so proper monitoring will be done from today to ensure that they cannot set up again.
