C T Online Desk: Speakers at a meeting remembered the contribution of Sirajul Islam Chowdhury in building an enlightened and modern society. They also focused on his role in building a knowledge based society enriched with moral values.
The observations were made at Sirajul Islam Chowdhury talent scholarship certificate distribution ceremony and discussion organized by Paraikora Union Association on Monday last.
Referring to Paraikora left in ignored state including long stagnant flood water during monsoon leaving the locals and livestock in suffering apart from rule of different areas by touts, cheats, the speakers demanded that the government take necessary steps in this regard.
They also expressed concern over unsatisfactory results of academic institutions including two high schools, primary schools and madrasas in the union owing to dominance by unworthy persons in governing committees formed with no regard to rules there.
The students, guardians and teachers were urged to make all-out efforts to increase their activities in the field of education.
Lion Sujit Kumar Das, president of the organization chaired the event moderated by Nurul Huda, general secretary at Chattogram Lighterage Hall at city’s Majirghat area.
Among others, Sadek Ehtesham Chowdhury, director of Siranjul Islam Talent Scholarship organization , Parikoda Union Association-Chittagong Executive Committee President Alhaj Md. Jamal Uddin Ansari, Finance Secretary Gokul Dutta, Organizing Secretary Hannan Rahim Talukder, Editorial Board Members Banker Irfanul Islam, Selim Ullah, Businessman Md. Hossain, Mahata Patnikotha Adarsh High School Teacher Manik Mia, students respectively Habibul Islam, Hamidur Rahman, Fahmida Sultana, Farzana Akhter, Minhaj Chowdhury and Chittagong Lighterage Sramik Union Organizing Secretary Md. Azgar Hossain Talukder spoke on the occasion.
The speakers respectfully recalled Sirajul Islam Chowdhury’s contribution in building a civilized, knowledge-based society through good education, including moral education.
