C T Online Desk: Actress Nipun Akter was barred from leaving the country by the authorities at the Osmani International Airport Sylhet on Friday.
Nipun, who was scheduled to fly to London on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 10:15am, was briefly detained by the Immigration Police based on directives from intelligence agencies.
After interrogation and scrutinising passport and other documents, her journey was cancelled and she was sent back.
It was learnt that she returned to Dhaka from Sylhet.
Immigration Police Officer-in-Charge Nur-e-Bahar said Nipun’s London trip was cancelled due to the objection raised by intelligence agencies.
However, it is not yet clear why the intelligence bodies objected to her departure from Bangladesh.
The actress came under discussion through the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) election in 2022.
