C T Online Desk: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the Walkathon and Social Service Conference, organized by the Department of Social Services, on the occasion of National Social Service Day 2025, on Thursday.
The chief adviser arrived at the event venue, Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the National Parliament, at 9:30am.
He said: “Social service is the responsibility of every individual, and the ministry’s role is to remind everyone of this duty, so no one forgets or strays from it. I hope this message reaches everyone.”
He further mentioned that every person has an innate tendency to work for the benefit of others and that this desire must be awakened, as working for others’ welfare brings more joy than doing something solely for oneself.
He called on people to develop the habit of working for public welfare in their daily lives.
The chief adviser emphasized that the strength of people surpasses that of the government. He urged everyone to step forward at an individual level to advance the country, rather than relying entirely on the government.
The event also featured speeches from Sharmeen Murshid, adviser to the Ministry of Social Welfare, and three student representatives from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
