Book distribution in Chakma, Marma and Tripura languages begins in Bandarban

C T Online Desk: In the Bandarban Hill District, a new year’s book distribution program has started.

On January 1st, the distribution of books in Chakma, Marma and Tripura languages took place at various educational institutions, with the active participation of students and teachers from early morning.

At 10am, the District Commissioner of Bandarban, Shah Mojahid Uddin, attended as the chief guest and handed over the new year’s books to the students of Bandarban Collectorate School and College.

He wished the students a happy new year while distributing the books to students of various grades.

According to the Bandarban District Primary Education Department, there is a demand for 303,427 books in 435 government schools across seven upazilas of the district.

A total of 179,324 books have arrived in Bandarban, with 124,903 books still pending.

The expected number of students is 68,779.

Additionally, for the year 2025, books in Chakma, Marma, and Tripura languages have arrived for pre-primary to third-grade classes in Bandarban.

For instance, 4,018 books for pre-primary, 6,180 for first grade, 6,333 for second grade and 1,966 for third grade have been distributed.

All required books in the languages of indigenous communities have arrived and are being distributed.

The District Secondary Education Officer of Bandarban, Abu Saleh Mohammad Farid Uddin, stated that there are 89 secondary educational institutions in the district.

For a total demand of 9,40,657 books, only Bengali, English, and Mathematics books for grades 6 and 7 have arrived at the Bandarban office and those books are being distributed to the students.
