CA Yunus inaugurates Dhaka International Trade Fair

C T Online Desk: Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday inaugurated the 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2025 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, among others, was present on the occasion.

Like previous years, the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) are jointly organizing the fair this year.

Later, the chief adviser visited different stalls at the fair and enjoyed cultural function.

For the first time, online stall and pavilion spaces have been allocated in various categories.

Additionally, the fair has introduced e-ticketing for the first time.

For the convenience of visitors’ travel, along with the dedicated bus service from BRTC, Uber services will also be available at special discounts.

To honour the sacrifices made by students and the public in the anti-discrimination student movement, “July Square” and “Thirty-Six Square” have been created at the fair.

Additionally, a Youth Pavilion has been created to encourage the young generation to get involved in export trade.

The fair will host seminars focusing on promising sectors and products. For the convenience of foreign entrepreneurs and institutions, there will be a dedicated sourcing corner, as well as zones for electronics and furniture.

To accommodate visitors of different age groups, there will be a technology corner and a seating corner for senior citizens. A children’s park has also been set up to provide wholesome entertainment for children.

The fair will showcase and sell a variety of products, including domestic textiles, machinery, carpets, cosmetics and beauty aids, electrical and electronics, furniture, household goods.

A total of 11 institutions from seven countries, excluding Bangladesh, are participating in this year’s fair. The participating countries are India, Pakistan, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.

On the southeastern side of the exhibition center, there is the July Square, on the southwestern side, a cultural center, technology corner, recreation corner, and on the northeast (6-acre) side, there is a children’s park. The northwest side has Thirty-Six Square and a prayer room.

For overall security and to ensure the safety of visitors, an adequate number of police officers, armed police battalions, RAB, intelligence agencies, and other law enforcement personnel will be deployed at the fairground. Regular patrols will be conducted outside the fairground. CCTV cameras have been installed at various key locations, entry gates, parking areas, and relevant areas to prioritize security.

This year, cleanliness has been given more importance. Adequate separate toilets for men and women have been set up inside the exhibition hall, as well as outside the hall.

To control the quality of food products, a mobile court to combat adulteration will be conducted daily during the fair under the leadership of an executive magistrate, along with members of the law enforcement agencies. For visitors, there will be a doctor and patient care attendants available at all times to provide free primary treatment and medical advice.

The fair will provide ample parking space. In addition to a two-story parking building with parking for over 500 vehicles, a 6-acre parking area will also be available outside the exhibition hall.

A control room has been established for monitoring all activities at the fair, and an information center will provide visitors with all kinds of information. Banking services will be available with adequate bank booths. A mother and child center will be available for mothers and children.

The month-long trade fair will be open daily from 10am to 9pm (until 10pm on weekends).
