C T Online Desk: Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Sunday congratulated the Bangladesh national under-19 cricket team for retaining the Under-19 Asia Cup.
In his congratulatory message, Yunus said he extended his congratulations for this international triumph in the month of victory, on behalf of a proud nation.
The young Tigers clinched the title earlier in the day, defeating India by 59 runs in the final in Dubai in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
They successfully defended the crown they had won for the first time last year in the United Arab Emirates.
Chasing 199 runs for a record-extending ninth crown, the Indians were all out for 139 in 35.2 overs in the face of some disciplined bowling by the Bangladesh youngsters.
Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim led the way with three wickets and received support from pacers Iqbal Hossain Emon and Al Fahad who bagged three and two scalps, respectively.
India earlier bowled out Bangladesh for 198 in 49.1 overs after being invited to take first guard by India captain Mohamed Amaan.
Rizan Hossain scored 47 and Mohammad Shihab James made 40, with the middle-order playing a crucial role in setting the total.
