C T Online Desk: Leaders and activists of BNP’s affiliate organizations — Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and Swecchasebak Dal — staged a joint protest march toward the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Sunday.
The march began in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan in the morning.
Earlier, on Saturday evening, a press release signed by Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal Office Secretary Md Jahangir Alam announced the program.
According to the statement, the protest was organized to denounce the alleged attack on the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, India, the desecration of Bangladesh’s national flag, and what they termed as a conspiracy to incite communal unrest.
The march also included plans to submit a memorandum to the Indian High Commission following the protest.
The Hindu Sangarsha Samiti on December 2 vandalized the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, with the Bangladesh national flag taken down and set on fire, in protest against the arrest of the Sommilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote’s spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das.
Videos from the incident show protesters tearing down the Bangladesh national flag and setting it ablaze.
