Consider me as an adviser from Rangpur, CA tells Abu Sayed’s family

C T Online Desk: Chief Adviser Prof Yunus on Thursday said he considered himself a son of Rangpur as he was moved by the bravery and sacrifice of July uprising martyr Abu Sayed.

“Consider me as an adviser from Rangpur,” said Prof Yunus while welcoming the family members of Abu Sayed at his office in Tajgaon, Dhaka.

The Chief Adviser handed over the certificate of the Shahid Abu Sayed Foundation to the family members of martyr Abu Sayed during a brief ceremony on the day.

Mokbul Hossain, father of Abu Sayed, received the certificate while Md Liton Mia, a nephew of Abu Sayed, was also present on the occasion.

The Chief Adviser enquired about the health condition of Abu Sayed’s parents and assured them of all support from the government.

Earlier on 13 November, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement staged a demonstration by blocking the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Rangpur demanding the appointment of advisers from the northern region in the interim government.

Coordinators of the platform, including Imran Ahmed, Ashfaq Ahmed, Nahid Hasan Khandaker, Imtiaz Ahmed, Yasir Arafat, Carmichael College students Saiful Islam and Shariful Islam, among others, addressed the rally.

They equivocally complained that the interim government was discriminating against Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions.

Although thirteen of the advisors are from Chittagong division, none has been taken from the northern region, they said.

Interestingly, the chief adviser responded to the call after 16 days, claiming himself as an adviser from Rangpur.
