C T Online Desk: Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, the adviser for the ministries of local government as well as youth and sports, has said he will propose to the Cabinet the arrangement of student union elections on all campuses by January-February.
Asif made the announcement during a discussion on the future of Bangladesh at the Mukta Mancha of Jahangirnagar University on Monday night.
He added that before the ouster of the Awami League government, he had consistently demanded the restoration of democratic practices through student union elections on campuses.
“We believe that democratic practices should commence in the very campuses where the anti-fascist movement started,” Asif said.
JU Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, among others, attended the event.
