C T Online Desk: Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said that the government is embarrased by a surge of widespread lawsuits filed by general people against the ruling Awami League.
He made this remark on Tuesday evening after a meeting with the Judicial Reform Commission at the Judicial Administration Training Institute.
Asif Nazrul said: “The country is experiencing a significant surge in widespread lawsuits, which is causing us great embarrassment. We are considering various legal reforms and steps, hoping to find a way to address this legally.”
He further added: “Under the previous fascist government, false cases were filed by the government. But now, we are not filing any cases from the government’s side. Instead, the general public, victims, and political opponents are filing lawsuits.”
The law adviser also shared that the next appointments to the higher courts are intended to be made through legislation.
“There has been a long-standing demand to make judicial appointments through law. A law was drafted in 2008, but it was not implemented. The previous fascist government did not enact it into law,” he said.
Commenting on the progress of the Judicial Reform Commission, he said: “I am optimistic about the progress they are making. It seems they are working towards establishing a judiciary that could, if realized, resolve the issues within our judicial system permanently.”
