Six Bangladeshi-Americans running in US elections this year

C T Online Desk: Six Bangladeshi-origin candidates are running again in the US elections on Tuesday.

All six are incumbents in various state legislatures seeking re-election.

The candidates consist of Sheikh M Rahman (Georgia Senate District 5), Nabilah Islam (Georgia Senate District 7), Masudur Rahman (Connecticut Senate District 4), and Saddam Salim (Virginia Senate District 37), all of whom are Democrats.

Aboul Bashar Khan, a Republican, is seeking re-election to the New Hampshire House of Representatives from Rockingham District 20.

Dr Nuran Nabi, a Democratic councilman from Plainsboro Township, New Jersey, has held his position since 2007.

If re-elected, this will mark his fifth term.

He oversees cultural and heritage matters within the township council, which consists of a mayor and five council members.
