C T Online Desk: Shahadat Hossain has been sworn in as the new mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC).
The oath-taking ceremony took place at 10:30am on Sunday.
AF Hassan Ariff, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, administered the oath.
According to Shahadat’s private secretary, Maruful Haque Chowdhury, the event was attended by 27 guests, including party leaders and family members of the newly appointed mayor.
The ceremony was held in the conference room of the Secretariat.
Following the ceremony, the new CCC mayor plans to pay respects at the grave of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman.
Party sources indicate that leaders and activists from Chittagong will accompany him during this visit.
