CA Yunus welcomes SAFF women’s football team

C T Online Desk: Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus felicitated the Bangladesh women’s football team that won the SAFF Championship.

The reception was organized at the State Guest House Jamuna at 11am on Saturday.

A total of 23 footballers in the SAFF squad, manager Mahmuda and coach Peter Butler attended the reception of the chief advisor.

Bangladesh claimed the SAFF Women’s Championship title by defeating Nepal 2-1 at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu on Wednesday night.

The women’s team returned to Bangladesh on Thursday evening, where Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labour and Employment Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan awaited their arrival at Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban from 5:30pm. The team finally arrived at 7pm, three hours after leaving the airport in an open-top bus.

This is the team’s second SAFF title, their first coming two years ago against the same opponents on the same ground.
