C T Online Desk: A case has been filed against former MPs Abdur Rahman Bodi, his wife Shahin Akhtar, 70 other named individuals, and an additional 300-400 unnamed persons on charges of attempted murder, shooting, damaging property, and issuing death threats.
Md Rafique, a local leader of the union’s Jubo Dal, filed the case with the Teknaf Model police station on Tuesday night.
Teknaf Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Gias Uddin confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.
According to the case document, on August 4, during the anti-discrimination student movement, under the leadership and incitement of former MPs Abdur Rahman Bodi and his wife Shaheen Akhtar, the accused opened fire indiscriminately with firearms and sharp weapons, aiming to kill the protesting students.
Among the notable accused are Nurul Bashar, President of the Upazila Awami League, Nurul Alam, President of the Upazila Youth League and former Upazila Chairman, Acting General Secretary Fazlul Kabir, Volunteer League President Sarwar Alam, and other local leaders such as Nur Hossain, Rashed Mahmud Ali, and Amzad Hossain Khokon. Municipal Youth League leaders Rezaul Karim, Mohammad Abdullah, Mujibur Rahman, and Upazila Student League President Saiful Islam Munna and General Secretary Nurul Mostafa are also named.
OC Muhammad Gias Uddin said: “A Jubo Dal leader has filed the case, naming former MP Abdur Rahman Bodi and his wife Shahin Akhtar, along with 72 others. Additionally, 300-400 unidentified individuals have been accused. We will conduct special operations to apprehend the accused.”
Meanwhile, following the fall of the Awami League government, controversial former MP Abdur Rahman Bodi was arrested by RAB on August 20 in Chittagong. Since then, his wife, former MP Shahin Akhtar, has gone into hiding.
