C T Online Desk: Diya Siddique and Nasrin Akter confirmed gold and silver medals for Bangladesh as both of them reached the final of the recurve women’s individual event in the Asia Cup-World Ranking Tournament, Stage-1, beating their respective rivals in the semi-finals held in Phuket, Thailand on Thursday.
In the day’s semi-finals, Diya defeated India’s Tisha Punia by 7-3 points while Nasrin beat Malaysia’s Fozi Nur Ain Ayuni by 6-5 points in tie-breaker.
Diya and Nasrin will face each other in the recurve women’s individual event final on Saturday.
Apart from their individual battle, Diya-Nasrin and another Bangladeshi archer Famida Sultana Nisha will play the women’s recurve team event final against the Indian team – Tisha Punia, Ridhi and Tanisha Verma.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh have the possibility of winning win three bronze medals from the recurve men’s individual event, recurve men’s team event and compound men’s team event.
Hakim Ahmed Rubel will play Kazakhstan archer Abdullin Ilfat in the bronze final of the recurve men’s individual event.
Ruman Shana, Ram Krishna Saha and Sagor Slam, who failed to bring success in recurve men’s individual events for Bangladesh, will play the recurve men’s team bronze final against Malaysian team – Khairul Anuar, Ting Bryson Ting Tiew Luing and Zolkepeli Muhamad Zarif Syahiir.
In the compound men’s team bronze final event, Bangladesh trio – Himu Bachhar, Mithu Rahman and Nawaz Ahmed Rakib – will play against Iranian team of Seyed Hesameddin Kowsar, Hamzeh Nekoeei and Mohammadsaleh Palizban.
