An army officer has been killed by gunfire and stabbing during an attack by an armed gang of robbers in Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria upazila.
The incident took place when the members of a joint force were conducting a raid after receiving reports of a robbery at a house early Tuesday.

Chakaria Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md. Manjur Kader Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
The deceased army officer has been identified as Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon, 22. He was a member of the joint forces’ operational team in Chakaria, according to the police.
Police said Lieutenant Tanzim was critically injured after being shot by a group of robbers. He was rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Ramu, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
