C T Online Desk: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury stressed the need for taking responsibility by all for keeping the city clean by not not imposing lone liabilities upon the Mayor and councilors.
Mayor made the remarks while inspecting Mytilla khal, adjacent to the Port City Club in Ward 39, South Halishahar, on Wednesday (March 16) afternoon. CCC CEO Shahidul Alam, Councilor Ziaul Haque Sumon, Private Secretary to the Mayor Muhammad Abul Hashem, Executive Engineer Ashiqul Islam and others were accompanied him.
The Mayor called upon the city dwellers to build social resistance against those who dump garbage in the canals. He said it would not be possible to get rid of waterlogging unless the 21 canals outside the mega project to alleviate waterlogging in the city were dug and cleaned. He pointed out the real condition of 21 canals and said that it was necessary to take steps to re-excavate the filled canals including rescue of the canals which were in the possession of illegal occupants.
