C T Online Desk: After a long persuation between customs and the importers, , the destruction of non-auctionable goods is resuming at Chittagong Customs very shortly.
Chittagong Customs Authority will initially destroy 188 containers of various goods next week. The site of the destruction has already been finalized. However, the destruction of goods is being delayed due to lack of customs clearance. Officials at the auction house of the customs also said that there was a financial crisis in carrying out the demolition activities.
According to the auction branch, demolition work will be carried out at the embankment adjacent to the Bay Terminal in North Halishahar of the city. The probable date of destruction is March 21. The list of 188 containers of perishable goods includes – animal feed, onion, fish feed, Canadian canula, meat and bone meal, apple, malta , mandarin, fish, various cereal seeds and liquid drinks , customs sources added.
