C T Online Desk: Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to lead initiative supporting wounded protestors and families of the deceased.
The government has decided to establish a foundation dedicated to supporting the wounded and the families of those who were killed or injured during the student-led revolution in July-August 2024.
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will head the foundation, which will include advisers from the Interim Government, student representatives, and the family members of the deceased and injured.
“We can never forget the contributions of the students and people who sacrificed their lives or were grievously wounded while participating in the protests against the dictatorship,” said Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
“It is my duty and our national duty to stand by their side. We will do whatever is needed to take good care of the wounded and the families of the deceased as soon as possible,” he added.
Professor Yunus stated that arrangements have been made to address their medical and family needs, with dedicated government departments and officials assigned to this task.
The detailed modalities of the foundation will be announced soon, and both citizens and the Bangladeshi diaspora are encouraged to contribute to the initiative.
