Interim govt: The names proposed by coordinators

C T Online Desk: The decision was taken after the president met with representatives of the quota reform campaign calling themselves the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at the Bangabhaban with the chiefs of the army, navy and air force. The meeting was meant to mainly discuss the students’ proposed outline of the interim government and the people who would be running it.

Representatives of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement handed the president a list of possible interim government members, including 10-15 people. Some of them are- Dr Salhuddin Ahmed, Wahiduddin Mahmud, Ali Imam Majumdar, Dr Shahdin Malik, Dr Tasnim Arefa Siddique, Md Touhid Hossain, Shahidullah Khan Badal, Professor Asif Nazrul, Adilur Rahman, Barrister Sara Hossain, and Syeda Rizwana Hasan.

In the meeting, the President also suggested including representatives of freedom fighters, the minority community, and the ethnic community in the government.

Earlier in the day, one of the key leaders of the campaign, Nahid Islam, proposed Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus as head of the interim government adding that he had agreed to shoulder the responsibility.

“As we have said, no military government, or one backed by the military, or a government of fascists, will be accepted,” Nahid said.
