Saudi Arabia donates 75 tons of dates to Bangladesh

C T Online Desk: This year, Saudi Arabia has distributed 19,000 tons of dates across four continents.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated 75 tons of dates for relief efforts to aid destitute people across Bangladesh including the Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar.

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan handed over the dates to the officials of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs at an event at his embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

“This gift comes as the humanitarian role of Saudia Arabia internationally,” Ambassador Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan said at the event.

The aid also reflects one aspect of the Saudi-Bangladeshi relationship, he added.

He also emphasized that this relief effort reflects the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, demonstrating Saudi Arabia’s commitment to aiding those in need.

This year, Saudi Arabia has distributed 19,000 tons of dates across four continents through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, according to the embassy officials.

Of those, 4,000 tons were given to the World Food Programme for humanitarian efforts, according to the ambassador.
The ambassador said that more than 40 million people worldwide will benefit from this donation.

The ambassador added that Saudi Arabia secured the top position among the top five international donors, emphasizing that this donation is intended for all people, irrespective of race or religion.
