C T Online Desk: A foreign female student died and two more injured in a road accident in Chittagong City.
The deceased was identified as Phutphaphone Bumbam Xaydala, 23, a citizen of Laos. She was a 4th year undergraduate student studying politics, philosophy, and economics at the Asian University for Women in Chittagong.
The two injured individuals, who are Bangladeshi citizens, have been admitted to a private hospital in the city.
The accident occurred in the Charpara area of the Outer Ring Road on Tuesday around 1am, according to Kabirul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga Police Station.
He said that they had visited the Patenga Sea Beach area at night, and on their way back from the beach, their Pajero collided with a road divider. The foreign student died on the spot.
The OC further said that it is believed that the front wheel of the Pajero lost control on the road, causing the collision with the divider. The deceased foreign student was seated in the back seat of the car. Legal action regarding this incident is underway. After the post-mortem examination, the victim’s body will be handed over to the university authorities.
