He said this while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Baisakhi fair organized by the Karnaphuli Society at Golchatwar Premises under the bridge of Shikalbaha area of Shah Amanat Bridge of Karnaphuli Upazila on Sunday (April 14).
The Finance Minister also said that Bengali New Year is a Bengali tradition. We hope that the Baisakhi Mela, Sampan Baich will be successful in celebrating the Bengali New Year. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken up the dream of building a smart Bangladesh for our future generations. . We need to create an environment for our generation today.
Chittagong-12 (Patia) Constituency Member of Parliament, Chittagong South District Awami League President Motaherul Islam Chowdhury said, “I am very happy to see the New Year’s Boishakhi Fair in Karnaphuli in the presence of the Minister of State for Finance. Some fanatical groups have made various efforts to prevent Pahela Boishakh. But the current government has failed due to the activities of the Prime Minister. In order to prevent bad culture, the native culture must be maintained. I thank the chairman of Shikalbaha for making this effort.
Chittagong District Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman, who was present as the inaugural address under the chairmanship of Shikalbaha Union Chairman Mohammad Jahangir Alam, the president of the organization, said, Finance Minister said – Karnaphuli is our life. The Deputy Commissioner also said that the Government of Bangladesh has launched a universal pension scheme for all. There is a booth at the fair. All of you can start a pension scheme. Everyone register for universal pension scheme to shape their future.
Engineer Islam Ahmed, General Secretary of Chittagong South District Jatiya Sramik League and Member of Zilla Parishad gave a welcome speech.
Incidentally, on the first day of Karnaphuli’s Baisakhi fair, cultural program and Sampan Beach competition, children’s dance, song, painting competition and poetry recitation were performed from 11 am to 1 pm. Cultural programs are held from 2 pm to 3 pm.
From 3 pm to 4 pm, a special discussion session was held on Chittagong’s famous Karnaphuli River, Baisakhi Fair and Sampan race . In the afternoon prizes were distributed after the sampan beach competition between 8 teams. Finally, the program ended with a special musical performance based on Chittagong tradition.
On Monday (April 15), on the second day of the Boishakhi fair, various entertainment programs including puppet dance, nagardola, circus are going on.
More than half a hundred stalls have been arranged in this Baisakhi fair. Including leather goods, jute goods, boutique goods, bamboo, cane and clay handicrafts, handicrafts.
