C T Online Desk: The Bangabandhu Bridge authorities collected Tk3.03 crore in toll from 43,427 vehicles that crossed the bridge in the past 24 hours until Tuesday morning ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims.
Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, executive engineer of Bangabandhu Bridge Site Office, confirmed the matter.
Homebound people are taking to the roads to reach their destinations outside the capital to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones. With the trend of exodus, the pressure of vehicles has increased on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway as well.
As many as 27,232 vehicles crossed the bridge heading towards the northern region while 16,195 vehicles plied the Dhaka-bound lane on the bridge in the last 24 hours.
The authorities collected over Tk1.71 crore at the bridge’s eastern part toll plaza, while over Tk1.32 crore at the western part toll plaza.
