C T Online Desk: As the final countdown to Eid-ul-Fitr begins, city dwellers are flocking to shopping malls, ensuring they do not miss anything in these last moments.
With a significant portion of holidaymakers already heading home to celebrate Eid with family and friends, Dhaka witnessed a noticeable reduction in its usual traffic congestion on Monday.
Eid shoppers, navigating through several shopping malls and markets, expressed that last-minute shopping was not as daunting as anticipated.
Atik Uzzaman Babu, a manager from the capital’s Banasri area, was spotted purchasing pyjamas from a fashion outlet at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex in the evening.
He said, “I am a last-minute shopper. I deliberately delayed my shopping to avoid the bustling traffic. Now, with Dhaka is relatively peaceful, I have come to the mall to make my purchases.”
He said, “I am a last-minute customer. I did not shop early to skip the busy traffic. Now, Dhaka is almost free and I have come to the mall to purchase products of my choice.”
After having an iftar, men and women were seen buying matching accessories such as jewellery, cosmetics, makeup items, and mehendi (henna) from various shops across the city.
