C T Online Desk: Actress Nipun Akhter today filed a petition with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court to get back the post of general secretary (GS) of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association.
She submitted the petition through her lawyer to the SC office, seeking stay on the High Court verdict that yesterday cleared the way for Zayed Khan for assuming the office of general secretary of BFAA.
In the petition, Nipun stated that the writ petition filed by Zayed with the HC against the Appellate Election Board is not acceptable as the board is a private body, her lawyer Mustafizur Rahman Khan told The Daily Star.
The Appellate Election Board had cancelled the candidacy of Zayed and declared Nipun as general secretary of the organisation.
The lawyer said the chamber judge of the Appellate Division may hold hearing on the petition of Nipun Akhter on Sunday.
Yesterday, the HC declared cancellation of Zayed’s candidacy and declaring Nipun as general secretary of BFAA “illegal”.
