C T Online Desk: Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury claimed that the information spread by Nobel laureate professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus that he had received the ‘Tree of Peace’ award from UNESCO is not true.
In a press briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday, he said Muhammad Yunus falsely promoted the award given by an Israeli sculptor as a UNESCO award.”
“We contacted UNESCO when they confirmed that they didn’t give any such award to Dr. Yunus. We will send an explanation to UNESCO about what the Yunus Center and Dr. Yunus are spreading as fraudulent, he added.
Terming the action of Dr Yunus as defamatory for the country, the Minister further said, “We will also request Yunus Center to refrain from such false propaganda; otherwise, we will take legal action against them.”
