C T Online Desk: Oct 6, 2023- Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today visited ailing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Nirav Emon at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Nirav Emon drank poison to commit suicide, after seeing his father participating in BNP’s road march on Friday.
Dr Hasan, also Joint General Secretary of the ruling Awami League, spent some time with Emon, who was admitted to Ward No. 13 of CMCH.
During his visit, Hasan inquired about the treatment of the BCL leader and prayed for his early recovery.
He also provided financial assistance for his medical expenses and instructed the hospital authorities to take necessary measures.
Nirav Iman, 22, is acting organising secretary of the Pomra Union unit of BCL. His father Mohammad Zahir, 45, is vice president of the Pomra Union Juba Dal.
On Thursday, Emon’s father Mohammad Zahir participated in BNP’s road march in Chattogram city. When he received a photo of his father participating in the BNP rally via Facebook Messenger from his friends, Nirab became enraged and returned home.
He locked in an altercation with family members and at one stage drank poison to commit suicide.
Emon was first admitted to Upazila Health Complex, and then he was sent to CMCH.
