C T Online Desk: Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday questioned whether the BNP top leaders had gone overseas to hatch any conspiracy quoting medical treatment.
“I have seen that three BNP leaders have gone to Singapore. Newspapers are writing whether this is for treatment at all or some kind of conspiracy. The three leaders went to Singapore at the same time. There are a lot of questions,” he said at a meeting at the National Press Club on Sunday.
Amidst the ongoing movements carried out by the opposition BNP, aiming to topple the Awami League government, several of its top leaders are not in Bangladesh.
On Saturday morning, BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, along with his family members left for Singapore for medical treatment.
Earlier on Thursday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum and daughter Mirza Safaruh also went to Singapore.
While, on June 27, BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain also went to Singapore for treatment.
Regarding the attack on August 15, 1975, the minister said the assassinations were ordered by Ziaur Rahman. “They actually do politics of murder. Whenever there has been an attempt against him (Ziaur Rahman) in the army, the officers and soldiers of the army have been killed indiscriminately.”
Hasan Mahmud further talked about Chittagong uni Chhatra Dal locking up local BNP office.
“I saw in the newspaper that Chhatra Dal has locked the BNP office in Chittagong. I wonder when they will lock up the BNP office in Naya Paltan,” he said.
Internal conflicts have commenced within the BNP house, he added.
