C T Online Desk: Jatiya Press Club paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the National Mourning Day on Tuesday (August 15).
In the morning, Press Club president Farida Yasmin and general secretary Shyamal Dutta placed wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation.
Later, a voluntary blood donation programme was held in the club’s Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall in association with Quantum Foundation.
At this time, Press Club’s vice president Rezwanul Haque Raja, joint secretary Md. Ashraf Ali, treasurer Shahed Chowdhury, management committee members Kazi Rawnak Hossain, Shahnaz Siddiqui Soma, Kalyan Saha and Julhas Alam were present.
In addition, former president of Press Club Saiful Alam, managing director and editor-in-chief of BSS Abul Kalam Azad, former president of BFUJ Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, president of BFUJ Umar Farooq and general secretary Deep Azad, Journalist Welfare Trust managing director Subhash Chand Badal, journalist leaders Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, Madhusudan Mandal, Khairuzzaman Kamal, Shah Newaz Dulal, senior members Manoj Kanti Roy, Safiqul Karim Sabu, Tarun Tapan Chakraborty, Rafiqul Islam Ratan and Saif Islam Dilal were present, among others.
Club president Farida Yasmin said, “On this day, we have lost many people, including the Father of the Nation and his family members. Remembering this day, we are holding a voluntary blood donation programme to turn grief into strength.”
General secretary Shyamal Dutta, in his welcome speech, thanked and expressed gratitude to the club members for participating in the blood donation event in the service of humanity.
