CUJ  demands withdrawal of farcical  case against Farooq Abdullah

C T Online Desk:  Journalists of Chittagong held a human chain and rally to demand withdrawal of conspiracy case filed under Digital Security Act against Farooq Abdullah, member of Chittagong Journalist Union and Daily Purbadesh staff reporter. Demanding the withdrawal of the case from the rally, the journalist leaders said that the case was filed only for the purpose of harassment to serve personal interests. If the demands are not met, they have warned of more stringent programs in the future. Speakers in the gathering said, the first heroic freedom fighter of the resistance movement against the killing of the father of the nation Bangabandhu, the great freedom fighter of martyred Maulvi Syed. This case has been filed against Farooq Abdullah for protesting against not giving the highest state honor ‘Guard of Honour’ after the death of Ali Ashraf. The plaintiff mentioned in his statement  that the case was filed on the instructions of the local MP of Banshkhali. Which is completely unintended and unwanted. The speakers sought the intervention of the Prime Minister to withdraw the false  case. The program was held in front of the press club on Sunday (July 23) at 12 noon on the initiative of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ). Under the chairmanship of Cuj president Tapan Chakraborty, the vice president of BFUJ  Shahid Ul Alam spoke in the program, Cuj general secretary Md. Shamsul Islam, General Secretary of Press Club Debdulal Bhowmik, Former President   Mostak Ahmad, Senior Vice President of Press Club Chowdhury Farid, Senior Vice President of Press Club Rubel Khan, Former Senior Vice President Ratan Kanti Debashish, Vice President Anindya Tito, Joint Secretary Saidul Islam, Finance Secretary Mujahidul Islam, Organizing Secretary Mohram Hossain, Executive Member Alauddin Hossain Dulal, Executive Member of BFUJ Azhar Mahmud. , former Press Club Publication secretary  Aliur Rahman    and leaders of various organizations expressed solidarity with the program of CUJ.
