C T Online Desk: As dengue cases are increasing across Bangladesh, the government has issued five instructions to schools and colleges to prevent dengue spread ahead of the reopening of schools and colleges after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays on Sunday.
The five instructions of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) include keeping all educational institutions clean.
An order was issued to the principals and field-level education officers of all public and private educational institutions by the DSHE with a request to follow the instructions.
“A dengue outbreak has recently occurred in Dhaka city and different parts of the country. Many people are affected and many are at risk. It is possible to get rid of this disease if we take precautions. Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease. Places where water accumulates in school playgrounds and buildings, and water in flower pots are perfect breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes. In this situation, to prevent the spread of dengue, all the educational institutions of the country have been requested to follow certain things after opening after the Eid-ul-Azhar holidays,” reads the order.
The five instructions are:
- Playgrounds and buildings should be cleaned regularly
- Water accumulated in the field or building should be removed quickly
- The flower tubs kept for the beautification of educational institutions should be cleaned regularly
- It should be ensured that water does not accumulate in the breeding ground of Aedes mosquitoes
- The authorities and teachers concerned will inform students daily about ways to prevent dengue.
