C T Online Desk: Five people were killed and 15 others were injured in a collision between a bus and a battery-run auto-rickshaw at Darvaste of Jaintapur Upazila on Sylhet-Tamabil road on Friday night.
The accident took place around 10pm, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jaintapur Police Station Omar Faruk confirming the matter.
The identity of the deceased couldn’t be known yet. All the deceased were passengers of the three-wheeler.
According to locals, a Jaflong-bound bus was going from Sylhet and collided with a three wheeler (locally called Tomtom) in front of the Sylhet-Tamabil Highway Darvaste Palli Bidyut Office around 10pm, leaving five people dead and 15 others injured on the spot.
Jaintapur and Bateshwar fire service personnel with the help of locals are working to rescue the bus that fell into a ditch.
Meanwhile, a long tailback was created on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway after the incident.
