C T Online Desk: The students of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University held a human chain and protest rally to demand the cancellation of the policy mentioned in paragraph number 20 of the sixth chapter of the new notification proposed by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and to implement the fair rights of fisheries graduates.
The students of the Faculty of Fisheries held this program at the main gate of the university yesterday (June 13) around 11 o’clock.
Shafiqul Alam, alumnus agriculturist of the university, said in the gathering, issuing such a notification in the progress of Bangladesh’s agriculture and fisheries sector questions the prudence and sanity of the policy makers.
If the authorities do not establish the rights of fisheries graduates by complying with the demands of the students, fisheries experts from all over the country, including Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, vowed to join together and go for a strict program.
Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries Science. Nurul Abshar Khan said, when the fisheries sector of Bangladesh is on the verge of incredible success for the welfare of fisheries graduates, a dishonest circle is fueling the creation of fabricated rules to disrupt the development journey of this sector and the success of the current government, which clearly involves the deprivation and humiliation of fisheries graduates. It should be corrected and revised quickly and the fishermen should be installed in their proper place.
The speakers said that as a specialized university, their university, agricultural universities of Bangladesh, science and technology universities have the opportunity to study at undergraduate and postgraduate level in fisheries science. Bangladesh Civil Service has separate seats for Fisheries graduates in Technical Cadre. In this situation, if there is no legal recognition of the right to provide fish treatment and consultation services, it may adversely affect the fisheries graduates and those working in different places. Where skilled people studying in Fisheries Science all over the world are legally recognized for providing fisheries management, conservation of fish species and biodiversity and treatment and management of fish diseases in related sectors, no direct or indirect deprivation of Fisheries graduates is acceptable in our country.
Shafiqul Alam of the second batch of the Faculty of Fisheries, Saifuddin Rana of the third batch, Ariful Islam of the fourth batch, Debashish Deb, Hasibul Hasan Shanto of the fifth batch, Abu Obaida Mayaz, Antar Sarkar and others were present in the human chain.
