Hasan visits Sayeed at Orthopaedic hospital

C T Online Desk: June 12, 2023- Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today visited baby Sayeed, who lost his hand in hyena’s biting at Dhaka Zoo, at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in the capital.

Prime Minister’s special assistant and AL office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua was also present there.

They talked with the parents of Sayeed and provided financial assistance to them. They also talked with the doctors and enquired about the health condition of Sayeed.

Hasan said they visited the child on behalf of Awami League. The incident is really pathetic and shocking, he added, adding, “I saw in newspaper that his (Sayeed’s) father sought financial assistance. We have extended our assistance to this end.”

The minister said an inquiry committee has been formed in this issue and proper actions will be taken against those who were responsible for the tragic incident. The issue has come to the notice of the prime minister, he added.

Hasan urged all guardians to be more cautious while visiting the zoo.

The hospital, he said, is playing a pivotal role in providing special treatment. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman opened the 400-bed orthopaedic hospital in 1972, he added.

He said Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took a new project in 2013 and increased it to 1,000 beds by adding 500 more beds, he said.

Hasan said now the hospital has become a place of trust for the treatment of amputations due to various causes including accidents across the country.

Director of the hospital Dr Md Abdul Gani Molla, Dr Jahangir and Dr Sabnam Shayla, among others, were present.
