C T Online Desk: SANGSAD BHABAN, June 4, 2023 – Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday unanimously adopted a condolence motion expressing profound shock at the death of ruling party lawmaker and former minister Dr M Afsarul Amin.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion immediately after beginning the 23rd Jatiya Sangsad budget session which was adopted following a brief discussion by the lawmakers.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also leader of the House, took part in the discussion.
The lawmakers described the deceased lawmaker as a great leader and he will be remained alive in the heart of the people, adding that the former minister has contributed a lot for the development of the primary education.
Participating in the discussion, land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said “Dr Afsarul Amin was a well behaved gentle man and worked for the welfare of the poor people.”
Former Education Minister and lawmaker of Sylhet-6 Nurul Islam Nahid said Afsarul Amin had not only in primary education but also had contributed in secondary and higher education as well.
Praising his role, opposition Jatiya Party lawmaker Mujibul Huq of Kishorganj-3 said he was a good behavior and hundred percent success as a politician as he was an iconic politician.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased lawmaker Afsarul Amin, veteran lawmaker Tofail Ahmed of Bhola-1 said Dr Amin has left exemplary principle in his political carrier as he was a pioneer of us.
Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan, ruling party lawmakers Motahar Hossain of Lalmonirhat-1, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain of Chattogram-1 and Wasika Ayesha and Jatiya Party lawmaker Mashiur Rahman Ranga of Rangpur-1, among others, spoke.
Later, the obituary motion was unanimously adopted by the House and Hafez Ruhul Amin Madani, MP, of Mymensingh-7 conducted munajat for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Dr M Afsarul Amin died of cancer on Friday afternoon at a city hospital at the age of 71.
