C T Online Desk: About two thousand Rohingyas from more than 400 families have left for Chittagong to go to Bhasanchar. As displaced Myanmar nationals (FDMNs), they took refuge in 34 Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.
On Tuesday (February 15), they were taken to a temporary transit center on the Ukhia Degree College ground to be taken to Bhasanchar. From there, the vehicle was first taken to Chittagong at around 9 am on Wednesday under the supervision of law enforcement agencies.
A source has confirmed that in the 11th phase of the process of relocation of Rohingyas to Bhasanchar, from one and a half thousand to two thousand Rohingyas from 400 families will be taken to Chittagong. Talking to some of the boatmen of Kutupalong refugee camp in Ukhia upazila, it is learned that a list of Rohingyas from various camps interested in volunteering to go to Bhasanchar is being prepared and taken away at the initiative of Bangladesh government.
In other cases, Rohingyas willing to go voluntarily have been taken to Bhasanchar. When Rohingyas from Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar were informed about the food environment there, they also expressed interest.
